Stowby — Privacy Policy
Stowby is a personal "save it now, find it later" app. You deliberately save photos, files, links, and notes; later you search for them in plain language and get them back. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you can delete it.
In this policy, "Stowby", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operators of the Stowby app. You can reach us any time at support@stowby.app.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and profile photo, and a Firebase account identifier used to keep your data private to you.
- Content you save. The photos, videos, documents, links, and notes you choose to capture, along with any notes or context you add to them.
- Data we derive to make search work. Text extracted from your documents, short search keywords, a numeric "embedding" used for similarity search, a detected language, and image thumbnails.
- Limited technical data. Standard request information needed to operate the service securely. We do not use advertising, and we do not sell your data.
How we use your information
We use it solely to provide Stowby: to store what you save, to index it so you can search it, and to return your matches. Your content is private to your account and is never shown to other users. We do not use your captured content to train any third party's models for their own purposes.
Service providers we share data with
We rely on a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf to deliver the app:
- Google Cloud Platform / Firebase — sign-in, and secure storage of your files and account data.
- Voyage AI — receives the content you save (image, document text, note, or link text) to generate the search "embedding".
- Anthropic (Claude) — receives the content you save to generate the short search keywords.
These providers process your content only to perform their function for Stowby. Because of them, some processing happens outside your home country, including in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your content until you remove it. You can delete any individual item at any time, or delete your entire account (below), which removes all of your content.
Deleting your data
Delete one item: open it and choose delete.
Delete your whole account and all data: in the app, go to My stuff → Account → Delete account, then type DELETE to confirm. This permanently removes your account, every photo, video, document, link, and note you saved, and your sign-in record. It cannot be undone.
Prefer us to do it for you? Email support@stowby.app from your account's email address and we will delete your account and data.
Security
Your data is isolated to your account. Files are kept in private storage that is never publicly accessible — the app reaches them only through short-lived, signed links created for you. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest using our providers' standard protections.
Children
Stowby is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices and rights
You can access, correct, or delete your data through the app, or by contacting us at support@stowby.app. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal data; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the date above.
